Monetech is proud to announce the first pre commercial launch of mobile contactless services in Europe.

Citizens from Nice can use their NFC mobile phone (branded as Cityzi) to buy and validate their transport ticket in all the public transports. The service has been launched on the 21st of May by the French Minister of the Industry and Mayor of Nice. (Inauguration )

Since the beginning of the project Monetech brings to Veolia Transport the expertise of its consultants in managing a complex and secured mobile solution. BPass mobile transport service is now available for the customers of the French mobile operators: SFR, Bouygues, Orange and NRJ Mobile.

Monetech and Veolia Transport collaboration will also give birth to BPass+ which enhances Nice project with additional services for partially sighted persons and will give the ability to reload a contactless card with the NFC handset. BPass+ also allows accessing, from your NFC handset, a wide variety of cultural and local information all around Nice area.

Monetech has elaborated trainings so that the attendees can benefit from our expertise on the topics presented. The first training sessions scheduled are related to NFC.

The next session is scheduled 24 & 25 June in Marseille.

The main module of this training is a one day session during which you will get all the keys to understand the NFC. You also have the possibility to select some complementary modules, half a day each, in order to get a closer focus on your activity area.

The first large scale deployment of mobile contactless services in Europe is launched today in Nice in partnership with the French telecom operators Bouygues, NRJ Mobile, Orange and SFR.
The service is launched today by the French Minister of the Industry and Mayor of Nice.

A set of services, developed by Veolia for the transport network Lignes d’Azur, or proposed by banks and retailers will be available for the customers.

The inhabitants of Nice and its metropolitan area now have the possibility to get the first NFC handset sold in France (Samsung Player One Cityzi) in the telecoms operators’ stores or at the branches of Credit Mutuel and CIC for NRJ Mobile. They will discover the offers of each telecom operator: commercial conditions, set of services available, after sales services for the Cityzi handset and SIM card …

Monetech is largely involved in this deployment, especially through its collaboration with Veolia Transport for the deployment of the transport ticketing application in the NFC handset. In earlier stages, Monetech has also worked with the AFSCM for the elaboration of the specifications that are essential to ensure the interoperability between all the actors and the components of the solution.

Monetech coordinates BPass+, one of the projects funded by French government in the NFC field.

From the spring of 2010, in the context of "Nice NFC city", Veolia will launch BPass solution that uses a NFC handset as a transport pass and also to load transport tickets and access to traffic information.

In order to enhance this solution, 6 innovative partners already involved in BPass (Amesys, Airtag, Connecthings, Monetech, Novabase, Trusted Labs) cooperate with Veolia to launch BPass+.

Monetech ensures the coordination of the project and brings its technical expertise on innovative solutions based on smart card.

BPass+ was selected by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment as one of the innovative service using the NFC technology to be funded.

BPass+ will simplify the access to transport network for the customers thanks to the following enhancements:
  • Capacity to buy and load tickets on its handsets via a phone call. This feature is particularly relevant for people with eye trouble,
  • Capacity to load transport pass of family members (on contactless cards or USB stickers) using the NFC handset,
  • Capacity to access to a set of information that will simplify and enrich the travel by reading contactless tags deployed at the bus and tram stations.
BPass+ will first be deployed on the public transport network of Nice Côte-d’Azur urban area (Lignes d’Azur).
BPass+ is a way of improving wide access to public transport.
